Festive Fourth Fun!

We were excited for Lukey's first fourth of July! I bought us red, white and blue Old Navy shirts and we spent our first night away from home. Lukey did great, but I never want to sleep in the same room with him again. I was up half the night because he grunts and groans in his sleep! So, if I look dead tired in these pictures, I am!
We have now made it a tradition to attend the Hillsboro parade on the fourth. I think I will start referring to is as the Candy parade. The kids get bucket loads of candy!
Lukey waving his flag!
He had enough of the festivities and fell asleep on daddy.
This parade is AWESOME because you get yummy treats like FRESH RASPBERRIES!! YUM!

In the evening we go up to Vancouver, WA to have a BBQ and fireworks with my sister's in-laws. We had a lot of fun this year with treasure hunts, Minute To Win It games and a pinata!

Pinata! Lukey got a nice bag of candy!
Minute To Win It....we are all concentrating on getting our dice to balance!
We ended the night with TONS of amazing fireworks. We only made it until 10 pm because WE were both exhausted from the previous night and Lukey was ready to go home and go to bed!

Stop and Smell the Roses

Portland is known as the "Rose City". Every June we have a big Rose Festival that entails a Rose Queen, carnival, a couple parades and many other festivities. The roses were very late in blooming this year and so they weren't out for the rose festival, but we went a few weeks ago and everything was in bloom and it was such a beautiful summer day.

There are literally hundreds of different types of roses and we love to smell them all. The best smelling seem to be the orange ones. Not to perfumey and not too sweet.

Lukey was a trooper and he took a nice hot nap in his stroller. I love how he is covering his eye!

We love living in Portland and we love to enjoy all the beautiful things it has to offer.

3,679,200 Minutes

Three million six hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred minutes.
Three million six hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred moments so dear.
Three million six hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred minutes.
How do you measure - measure seven years?

In Daylights - in sunsets
In movies - in bowls of ice cream
In road trips - in college degrees

In three million six hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred minutes.
How do you measure marital bliss?

How About Love ?

Seasons Of Love
Seasons Of Love

We've lived in 4 different apartments (607 is still my favorite!), 2 different states, both received Bachelor degrees, journeyed through Chiropractic school, had 6 different vehicles, collectively held 8 different church callings, made 3 trips to Disneyland, watched hundreds of movies, eaten lots of ice cream (ok, Holly has done that), gone through 3 iPods, seen Harry Potter at midnight 5 times, had quite a few hot-n-ready pizzas, laughed, cried, argued, apologized and made the cutest baby boy on the planet.

I cannot imagine living without you my dear sweet husband. I am grateful for you hard work, your thoughtfulness, your willingness to help, your testimony, your laughter, your big soft heart and especially the way you love me and our son. You are the best friend I have ever had. No one understands me like you do. I love doing everything with you. I am so happy that I picked you to spend eternity with. Seven years ago was one of the best days of my life. (Ten weeks ago is now tied!) I love you forever and for always.

Catch a Smile

Lukey is finally starting to smile a little bit more. He was sitting in his Bumbo while we ate dinner tonight and I tried to catch him smiling!

"I am SO serious. Look at my cute double chin!"
"Ok, here is a little smile for you, you crazy people. Why are you talking in such high voices?"
"You guys are so funny!"
"Ok, I am all done now. It's a lot of work being so cute!"

2 Months!

At 2 months old he weighs 13 lbs. 11 oz. and measures 24.5 inches!

I am stealing this idea from a friend! I know I have seen it done before and I wish I would have done it with Luke when he was born and then at one month, but I will start now. Since birth he has gained 5 lbs. 7 oz. and grown 3.5 inches!! He is such a little porker! I love him to pieces. He can hold his head up when he lays on his tummy. He likes to stand on our legs. He is starting to smile more and he loves to babble. He enjoys laying under his play mat and looking at his toys. He loves toys that play music. He loves to take baths and sit in the hot tub. He loves to be outside. If he is fussy you can take him outside and he will usually calm right down. He has been sleeping through the night since about 7 weeks! He is eating 7 times in a 24 hour period. He still gets swaddled up to sleep. He doesn't really enjoy car rides or his car seat. He loves to ride in his baby bjorn. He loves commotion! He is the bestest, cutest, sweetest baby in the entire world!

Zoo Trip

A few months ago one of my great friends moved to the Caribbean!! We have missed her SO much and she came for a visit last week and we got to take Lukey on his first trip to the zoo. Look at these cutey patootey's holding hands.
Dan was the only Dad that was able to come. He is SO helpful all the time. Here he trying to get Maddox (in the stroller) to sleep and Luke is sleeping in the Bjorn on his chest. Go Daddy!
Miles has a thing for this little lion cub! He likes to give it hugs and kisses! So cute!
Here are three of my favorite boys! These kids are like family to me. Aren't they so cute riding the Lion!
I don't think Lukey has quite the same enthusiasm about the lion yet.
Fine Luke, if you are just going to sleep then we are going to feed you to the Lion!
"Oh dear, I don't want to get eaten by the lion. I guess I will wake up and look around"

Here is our Zoo crew! It was a great day at the zoo and we look forward to MANY more trips in the future!

Eat, Sleep and Poop

This little boy likes to eat sleep and poop! He is such a cutie and such a good baby. We feel SO blessed that he eats, sleeps and poops so well. He loves to lay under his play mat, take baths, hang out in the baby bjorn, go shopping with mommy, sleep in his bouncy chair and eat, eat, eat and poop, poop, poop. He does not like having his clothes changed, he gets grumpy when he has a burp or poop that won't come out and gets fussy when he is tired.

When I saw this onesie at Old Navy I HAD to buy it. His name is Luke afterall and he does seem to be pretty hungry!

I don't have any pictures of Luke nursing (I didn't think that was exactly appropriate), but here he is getting his breast milk bottle from Daddy. It's nice that he will take a bottle sometimes. It was especially convenient at church!

Lukey likes to sleep in his car seat.

He sleeps in his crib at night.
This is the beutiful face that I get to see when I get him up in the morning.

He likes to sleep on Daddy or Mommy.

Last, but not least, he LOVES to sleep in his bouncy chair!
That's our little boy!
